Final project

For my final project, I suddenly remembered when I was young I heard a sentence,"Maybe we are living in a monster's belly." So, I started to think connect our real word to an unreal world.

The first picture is our familiar campus and our football stadium, they belong to ohio, this is a real fact and everyone knows that, then in the second picture, ohio is one state in the USA, also, USA is on the earth, so I cut down the ohio map and  USA map, using PS to move maps in front of the earth.

Then, the third one is two cute monsters, they are talking with each other, and I reduce the earth then put it on one monster's hand, may be on the monster's world, the earth is just a stone and they are watching the inside of the stone's change. In the third picture, there's a boy watching his castle, i put monsters on the table seems like the two monsters are walking out of this castle.  Then on the fourth picture, a spacecraft is flying in the universe, look at the window, this is just the boy who was in the third picture. Then, the space craft like a bird is ready to enter into the crystal ball in the fifth picture, a witch is trying to control the ball to see something special.

The reason that I made these pictures is that I want to show when we are busy doing something, or walking fast to across campus, there maybe someone is watching us in some other world that we can't know that. The more I think deeply in this way, the more miraculous I feel. When I am creating these pictures, maybe some monster are laughing at my blog!

Failure Paper

During this short summer term, I think I have learnt much knowledge on art, especially on  PS and making a video. So, in my projects, I think my biggest failure is my second mini project.I do use some PS technical ways to support my  project, but now I think this picture can't give myself the attraction, and I am not satisfied on this project, maybe I could change other special things in my life to combine this project, and edit the picture more creative. And according to my biggest success, I'm sure it's the MP4, the short movie that I made it. At first I just shoot some unrelavant videos and some sounds, then I can put them together and change the background sound, also tells a story, it's miraculous for myself, I don't think I can make a movie by myself and to my surprise, when veryone was  watching it, they enjoyed it and agreed with my project and my idea, it is really good feeling with a sense of achievement.All in all, I really had good time on doing project, once I finish it, I'm very proud on what I create, and it's really improtant because I have other two courses they are just so boring and a little tough sometimes for me, but when I'm doing the project, I feel a relax in some ways. Although some videos that we watched in class are kind of strange and unfamiliar for me, I know many people doing what they like, showing me a different world.

response to the Cathedral from Carver

Be kind to others is kind to yourself indeed
It’s hard to describe my feeling after reading the Cathedral from Carver. Carver’s short story still goes through smoothly, as flowing water, not much flowery language. When I first read it, I almost fell asleep. However, when finishing reading, I can feel a warm heart in Carver’s chest.
From my own perspective, the author wants to tell the reader that if you are kind to others, it’s also a kind to yourself. Like the protagonist in the story, at first, he doesn’t even hate the blind guest, however, as their conversation goes, they know each other better. Finally, when the protagonist closed his eyes, I think he already know to understand other people, and should be kind to others.

Address of David Foster Wallace

After reading the sparking address of the famous writer David Foster Wallace to the graduate of Kenyon College in 2005, there really are a lot of thoughts came into my mind.And the most impressive one is that when we believe something or regard something like a “truth” in one given situation, there may be no problem, and then how about put these beliefs in another situation? Will they always be true? maybe not. Just like a same gesture may have totally different even opposite meaning in different culture, some beliefs which you think is always right is not a free pass all over the world.

 Many Americans hold the view that it is our right to keep the gun and gunpowder legally.However, stroke by the cruel gun shooting in Denver and other gun shooting in the history, now I strongly don’t agree with the Gun amendment. The truth is although everyone can have a gun; it will add the crime  to those harbor evil intentions people and most of the normal cannot use the gun to protect themselves effectively. It is just a simple example, but I really wish that we will suspect and doubt and rethink those so called “truth” one day.

For this project, I got "store" as my main idea, the store means to held and stay something in some spaces, as I was thinking what special one can expresses "store" and it's in my daily life and I will use it everyday, so I think about the refrigerator, I open it for several times a day and I never notice it can be art. But, just like the reading that art can't be art, every thing can be art so I choose it as my project.

so, firstly, it's the front of the refrigerator, on it are the fridge magnets. Everytime my roommate and I were travelling to another city,we will buy some magnets as a souvenir.They are like our way to trip, we always arrange them as first to go then the end to go, and every souvenir shows the character of this city, like the green cactus represents Houston, my roommate went to Houston and purchased it, the weather in Houston is very hot just like the Green cactus grows in the desert!

Then, I open it. Obviously, once you open it, you will feel a cold and fresh feeling around your body and also, I feel many smell mix together, sweet fruit and fresh vegetable get together, also many sources will play an important role to combine them together.like we can see, there are 3 main spaces to store the food and everytime I buy new food, I will arrange them on a special way, first space is using to some main food like rice and some sausages, second has green vegetables and eggs, and the third one has some cans.And at the end box there's my important good-mask, they support my skin to get enough water, girls like mask!

The refrigerator is very common in our family, and I never think it can be an art. I took two pictures on different view the front and the bevel door of the refrigerator, it will give me different mood. I can feel the straight feeling on each food on the front face, and on the other photo, every food becomes smaller and some food hide into the small corner, but I can still see the important food in the surface. As the view of art, they are together to wait me enjoying eating them, their range can be an art I think, after arranging them, I can see different world in the refrigerator. I can't leave it to make my body running well, 

Response to Sullivan Feet in Smoke and art can't be art

It's an interesting story I can't believe it is a true one. At first, I thought his brother died, because the author and other people were all very sad , and I liked author describes the details, it was very clear and could let me image the scene when the author was in hospital to see his brother. But surprisely, his brothercame to himself at last and he didn't remember the whole thing that he had been experienced.

After reading twice, I can't get the point on his brother's die, what's the reason that his brother do that or just an accident?and , thank god his brother was alive back to his life , it is the miracle and now we maybe can't find the reson he can do that. Life is indeterminism.

 

Art can't be art is very meaningful article, I never think like brushing teeth will be relevant to art, I mean they are very common behavior in our daily life, and once I see art, it maybe very abstract that I can't understand the point just like the artists' video we watched. It's ture art is everywhere in our life, the only thing is we need to find them and look at them as an art. And it's really helpful to blow up some actions and analysis them as an art view, it should be fun.

And actually I don't quite agree with author's mind, if every movement in our bodies we will trade it as an art, I might crazy with it.and I can't face my normally behavior like normal, sometimes I will think it's a little weird to do that.

I first made the video like that and I am so surprised by what I was done. I recorded the video by my iphone, there were 3 videos that I editted. The one I was walking downsdairs, when I was in the elevator and the water dropped down from the water pipe. Then I imported them into imovie and exported the sound from the water dropping to the itunes. After done this, I opened the "guitar" to edit the sound and I used the music keyboard to flip some musical note. Also, I cut the downsdairs and the elevator to couple of pieces and then put them together by different turns, and import the audio that I made before. But I faced trouble on publishing this video, I don't know why I can't put it into my blogger, I will keep working into it, but if it doesn't work, I can just show it in my flash. 

My idea of this video is combine walking and elevator together and adding the sound of the water dropping because at the end of the video, I left the water pipe video there. I want to show someone was in a hurry to some where and at the last minute you will find that was just the water dropping! I think the most difficulty is when putting the audio to the video, I can't control the length of the sound and I don't know if they are matched together.

Wexner Center Review

      Today, I went to the Wexner Center with my friend. I'v never been to the Wexner Center, and once I entered into it, I feel like I entered a bright house, then we went deeper, I saw lots of works that made by candle, most of them are lips and breast. Actually I do think some of them are very abstract that I can't understand what does it mean. The first sight I saw the lips, they were like my desk lamp sitting on the wall! And I can't get the point from author's paintings, maybe I'm more logical than my perceptual organization. I also watched a short part of the video, the author Alina was a woman from Poland, she had big eyes when she didn't speak, she seems like unhappy and a little overlooked, when people asked her some questions she said little words but once talking about her projects, I'm sure I saw shinning stars in her eyes,  I can feel she is a little shy but she put her almost whole emotion into her works and creations, she aspired freedom, and maybe that's why she created lots of bodies as her exhibition.

This is parts of her exhibition that I found it online,  the whole lip is very reality."Look the yellow parts below the face is  like cheese," my friend said it. But we're just kidding, actually, we feel a little scare when we saw the exhibition, so we just around Wexner for about 20 minutes, and after we went out, we found there was a shop here and it sold some interesting created things, I felt I was more keen on this shop !

My beat headset: Girl like pink, this beat I just bought it for 3 days, but I can't leave it anymore, I like listening music and watching drama and show, when I can't  figure out my assignment, I choose to watch drama to have a rest, the problem is it's so late at night, so I brought the beat, it has very good impression when you don't want people outside to hear the voice.

Eyedrops: It's my best good friend, I need to face the computer for almost 24 hours everyday! My eyes need break, so this eyedrops makes my eye feel fresh and once it drops into my eye, I feel like my eyes become cool and comfortable.

Key: It's my key for my car, it's really convenience for me to have a car, I can drive to supermarket and also to Easton for shopping. So, I put my favorite little chicken on it incase it won't be missed.

Water bottle: This water bottle has my favorite color-green and inside this is the flower tea, it contains lily, medlar and honeysuckle, it will make you feel confused but in China, almost every girl likes to drink the flower tea, it's very healthy and can replenish the vitamin. Also, we use rose, chrysanthemum, and other flowers to make tea.

Calculator: This calculator has a long story, when I was in my high school, I used it though every exam also the final college entrance examination. I don't think I will use it anymore after my last day of the high school, but when I transfered here, I use it again, especially when I was taking the accounting course. It's really good to use and simple to know how to use it.

Notebook: Everyday, I must write down what I should do incase I forget what to do next. So, it's kind like my schedule of a day's note, sometimes I need paper, I usually use the paper on this notebook to write down some words. I can't leave it too.

  

When I was making  this picture, I was thinking let my photos hang on the wall, so I searched the background about the wall. Firstly I opened all photos I took and I dragged the background up on these pictures, because I don't want these no-processing photos on the background, then I used the knowledge that I have learnt today, cutting down the part of the photo that I need to paste. And I folded three of each cutting goods then changed the opacity, making them feeling more dimensional. But I can't make them feeling like hang on the wall.
